Rider Profile

Best ForThis is a machine for experienced, confident riders who can respect a huge power-to-weight ratio and instant throttle response.
PurposeBuilt as a hyper-naked brawler, it exists to deliver explosive acceleration and razor-sharp cornering performance on twisty roads and trackdays.
Rider FitThe tall 835mm seat height and aggressive, forward-weighted riding stance demand decent rider height and strength for low-speed maneuvers.
CharacterIt has a raw, aggressive personality defined by its punchy 75-degree V-twin, minimal wind protection, and a chassis that rewards precise, committed inputs.
Not Ideal ForThis is not the right bike for beginners, off-road adventures, relaxed long-distance touring, or riders prioritizing comfort and wind protection.

FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:STORAGE:TANK ASSEMBLY Jul 2015 · 15V441000

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling all model year 2014 1290 Super Duke R motorcycles manufactured July 1, 2013, to April 30, 2014. The affected motorcycles may leak fuel from the threaded inserts at the rear of the gas tank.

Risk: A fuel leak from the threaded inserts, in the presence of an ignition source, may increase the risk of a fire.

Remedy: KTM will notify owners, and dealers will seal the threaded inserts to prevent future fuel leaks. If the motorcycle shows evidence of an existing fuel leak at the threaded insert, the gas tank will be replaced. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on August 11, 2015. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. KTM's number for this recall is TB1507.
