Rider Profile

Best ForSuited to riders of any two-wheel background since the three-wheel layout and automated-feel manual gearbox make it approachable even for those new to Spyders, though the vehicle named is actually a three-wheeler rather than a conventional motorcycle.
PurposeBuilt for stable, confident open-road cruising and boulevard riding rather than outright cornering agility or off-road use.
Rider FitLow seat height and no need to balance at stops make it physically easy to manage, though its width and weight require some getting used to in tight spaces.
CharacterA distinctive, head-turning machine that trades traditional motorcycle lean-in cornering for planted three-wheel stability and a strong V-twin punch.
Not Ideal ForNot the right choice for riders seeking classic countersteering feel, lightweight flickability, or any off-road capability.

2009 Can-Am Spyder Roadster SM5 Rider Ergonomics Assessment

Calculated in your browser only - your height/inseam are never sent to our servers.

Feet:

At 737mm, a rider of 175cm with a 79cm (estimated) inseam will reach the ground with both feet flat on the 2009 Can-Am Spyder Roadster SM5, with a cramped knee angle of around 65 degrees and a forward-leaning riding position.

Data quality: measured. Assumes about 30mm of suspension sag once seated (a typical street-bike rule of thumb - stiffer or softer suspension will vary). This is an approximation from category-typical geometry and generic body proportions, not a measurement of this specific bike or you - sit on it before you buy.
