Rider Profile

Best ForBest suited to riders who already have some experience with heavy, low-slung cruisers and want a bike with classic styling over outright performance.
PurposeBuilt for laid-back boulevard cruising and show-worthy style rather than speed, distance-eating touring, or sporty cornering.
Rider FitThe low seat height makes it approachable for shorter riders, but the substantial weight demands confident low-speed handling and upper-body strength when maneuvering it at a stop or in tight spaces.
CharacterA classic springer-front Softail that trades on old-school hardtail looks, torquey low-end V-twin pull, and relaxed cruising rather than technical sophistication.
Not Ideal ForNot the right choice for riders wanting agile cornering, high-speed touring comfort, or any kind of off-road capability.

1998 Harley-Davidson Softail Springer Rider Ergonomics Assessment

Calculated in your browser only - your height/inseam are never sent to our servers.

Feet:

At 663mm, a rider of 175cm with a 79cm (estimated) inseam will reach the ground with both feet flat on the 1998 Harley-Davidson Softail Springer, with a cramped knee angle of around 70 degrees and an upright riding position.

Data quality: estimated (wheelbase estimated from this category's typical bike, not this model's own spec). Assumes about 30mm of suspension sag once seated (a typical street-bike rule of thumb - stiffer or softer suspension will vary). This is an approximation from category-typical geometry and generic body proportions, not a measurement of this specific bike or you - sit on it before you buy.
