Rider Profile

Best ForWell suited to beginner and intermediate riders thanks to its low seat height, manageable weight, and relaxed cruiser power delivery.
PurposeBuilt as an accessible, air-cooled V-twin cruiser for casual street riding, short trips, and easy customization rather than outright performance.
Rider FitThe low 691mm seat height and light-for-a-cruiser 245kg mass make it approachable for shorter riders or those wanting a low center of gravity.
CharacterDelivers classic V-twin cruiser character with a torquey, unhurried feel, belt-drive smoothness, and a laid-back riding position.
Not Ideal ForNot a good fit for riders seeking sport-bike speed, aggressive cornering ability, serious touring range, or any off-road capability.

2014 Yamaha Star Bolt Rider Ergonomics Assessment

Calculated in your browser only - your height/inseam are never sent to our servers.

Feet:

At 691mm, a rider of 175cm with a 79cm (estimated) inseam will reach the ground with both feet flat on the 2014 Yamaha Star Bolt, with a cramped knee angle of around 75 degrees and an upright riding position.

Data quality: measured. Assumes about 30mm of suspension sag once seated (a typical street-bike rule of thumb - stiffer or softer suspension will vary). ⚠ Safety Recalls (1)

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Jul 2013 · 13V298000

Yamaha Motor Company (Yamaha) is recalling certain model year 2014 XVS950CU (Bolt) motorcycles manufactured March 2013 through June 2013. Slack or sag in the wiring harness may allow it to contact the exhaust manifold causing the wires to melt, and possibly short circuit.

Risk: If the wires short circuit, the fuses will blow which may cause the engine to stall. An engine stall while riding, increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Yamaha will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the wiring harness and secure it away from the exhaust. If the wiring harness is damaged, it will first be replaced. The recall began on August 2, 2013. Owners may contact Yamaha at 1-800-962-7926.
