Rider Profile

Best ForSuits an intermediate to experienced rider comfortable managing a tall, heavy sport-tourer at low speeds and in traffic.
PurposeBuilt for covering long distances comfortably with a smooth triple engine, ample torque, and weather protection rather than for outright sportiness.
Rider FitA tall seat height combined with a substantial wet weight means shorter or less experienced riders may find slow-speed maneuvers and parking a bit demanding.
CharacterDelivers a relaxed, torquey in-line three power delivery with a refined, understated character typical of Triumph's touring triples of the era.
Not Ideal ForNot a good fit for riders seeking a lightweight, flickable machine for tight canyon roads or any form of off-road use.

Character map is an editorial estimate based on this bike's specifications, not a lab-tested measurement.

1997 Triumph Trophy 900 Rider Ergonomics Assessment

Calculated in your browser only - your height/inseam are never sent to our servers.

Feet:

At 790mm, a rider of 175cm with a 79cm (estimated) inseam will reach the ground with both feet flat on the 1997 Triumph Trophy 900, with a cramped knee angle of around 85 degrees and an upright riding position.

Data quality: estimated (wheelbase estimated from this category's typical bike, not this model's own spec). Assumes about 30mm of suspension sag once seated (a typical street-bike rule of thumb - stiffer or softer suspension will vary). This is an approximation from category-typical geometry and generic body proportions, not a measurement of this specific bike or you - sit on it before you buy.
